We strive in our work to constantly be trying to develop our own aims, which are to create an atmosphere in the workshops that is safe, respectful and enjoyable, promoting a deeper understanding of psychosis.
We encourage users to talk about their issues so they can learn from others, using creative mediums as ways of expression and for enhancing participants' skills and ideas for developing psychological approaches for those experiencing psychosis.
We work to explore creativity as a tool for learning and/or developing relationships and look at the implications of labelling and ways of using this to improve mental health services and personal development.
We work in collaboration with groups and organisations to devise
structures that best meets their aims and objectives
Therefore, they are tailored individually and are
designed with the consent of the client group
As well as running sessions on psychosis, we will
address all other issues related to mental health
TAKE AWAY AND FOLLOW-UP MATERIALS:
A certificate, booklet and a 'hearing voices' information
handout is given to all participants at the end of the day session.
The booklet includes our own individual accounts in a fictional story style, an action plan, guidance for future sessions and a further reading list.
We advise participants to get together whenever possible either as a whole, or
in their small groups to discuss the content of the booklets and to re-consider what
they have learnt.
The further guidance session encourages trainees to identify what they need to develop and how this can be made possible. We believe training days should not be in a vacuum and hope that the take away materials promote the idea that learning is continuous.
INDIVIDUAL & GROUP SESSIONS:
We deliver sessions commissioned by groups and organisations and will come to their choice of venue.
We will need a flipchart, TV, video and if possible, a tape player.
We work with groups of 3 to 24 participants. We also run day workshops in London
for individual workers.
